Private Childbirth Education Series
8-Session Childbirth Education Series (1 hour per session)
Prepare together with confidence. This 8-week, 1-hour per session class for you and your partner walks you through a complete, evidence-informed childbirth education series in a clear, supportive, and practical way. Taught by an experienced local doula and childbirth educator, each session blends medical information, comfort measures, partner support skills, and personalized planning so you both feel ready for labor, birth, and early postpartum.
What we cover (session-by-session)
Labor physiology and stages of labor: how labor starts, what happens in each stage, and normal variations so you know what to expect.
Pain, coping, and comfort measures: breathing, positions, massage, counterpressure, movement, hydrotherapy and tools to manage intensity.
Medical interventions and hospital procedures: monitoring, induction, augmentation, labor progress, and cesarean birth — when they’re helpful and how decisions get made.
Pain relief options and anesthesia: options from nonpharmacologic approaches to epidural and nitrous oxide, plus how to discuss preferences with your care team.
Partner support skills: practical hands-on coaching for your partner — timing contractions, providing comfort measures, communication, and advocacy.
Birth preferences and decision-making: creating a clear, flexible birth plan, informed consent, and advocating for your choices while staying adaptable.
Early postpartum care and newborn basics: recovery after birth, physical and emotional changes, feeding basics, safe sleep, and newborn cues.
Putting it together: review, role-play scenarios, birth rehearsal, final Q&A, and creating a personalized action plan for labor and the first weeks postpartum.
